Service type: Solar panel scaffolding.
Address: Mayles Road, Southsea, PO4.
Client needs: A solar panel company required a quotation for access to the rear of a 2-storey terraced property in Southsea so that they could install a new solar system onto the roof. This project was a little more complex than a standard solar panel scaffold, so we charged our client £600 with a 4 week hire period included.
Problems we faced: There was a single storey extension with a sloping tiled roof which had Velux windows installed, so were unable to use that section of the house to rest our scaffolding tubes on. This meant we were required to build the structure up and over this area without touching or damaging it. Although we are used to erecting these kinds of scaffolds, our team of skilled scaffolders always ensure extra care is taken when completing their work on this type of project.
What we did: We firstly erected a scaffold to the front of the ground floor extension which was approximately 4.0 metres long by 2.0 metres high. This scaffolding lift was not boarded. We then fixed 3x 4.0 metre beams from the tower and rested these on the concrete window ledges. A walkway was then created from the tower to the window ledge, for the installers to be able to access the scaffold from the ground via a ladder. We then installed 2x 6.0 metre beams as ledgers to create the top lift that was approx. 6.0m long by 6.0m high. This scaffolding lift was placed just under the gutter to give the installers plenty of reach to the roof area.
The top lift was double handrailed and a total of 5 boards wide. The walkway section was 3 scaffolding boards wide with handrails for fall protection. There was fixed ladder access that was installed from the ground to the walkway then another ladder was placed from the walkway up to the top lift.
Hire period: We hired this scaffold to our client for 4 weeks, although most solar panel installations have a quicker turnaround. However, we like to ensure our clients have plenty of time to complete their work safely so always give a few days extra where possible.
All you need to do is get in touch via our website, email address or telephone. We will require some details from you in order to provide you with a price. The details we take are very straight forward and will help us get an idea of what type of scaffold is required. We may also ask if you can send across images of the area that needs scaffolding to help speed up the process.
Here is what our team may ask, just so you are prepared when you speak to them:
We will then pass this information to one of our experienced estimators who will be in contact with you to either request a few more details, give you a price over the telephone or arrange a site visit. Please note that none of our estimators will just arrive at your property, they will arrange a convenient time for us to come and inspect the area further. Once you have our quotation and you are happy with the price, please get back in touch and we will then book you in to come and put the structure up. When you have completed your works and no longer need the scaffold, please let us know and we will be round to dismantle our equipment as quickly as we can.
