Roof access scaffolding.
Location: Wisborough Road, Southsea.
Duration: 4 weeks.
Total cost: £500.
Project Overview: Our scaffolding team recently provided crucial roof access for a residential property located on Wisborough Road, Southsea, Portsmouth. The homeowner needed safe, elevated access for essential roof maintenance, repairs, and a thorough inspection. A stable, fully compliant working platform was crucial for both worker safety and property protection.
Solution provided: To precisely meet the client’s needs and adhere to all safety regulations, we designed and erected a robust and fit-for-purpose tube and fitting scaffolding structure. Key specifications of the erected scaffold included:
Length: We installed an approximately 3.9-meter-long scaffolding tower, giving plenty of room to work along the roof.
Height: This tower reached an approximate height of 6.0 meters with three lifts; however, only the top lift was fully boarded, allowing workers to easily and safely access all parts of the roof they needed to.
Width: The working platform was five boards deep, which meant lots of space for users to move around, keep their tools, and even put materials down temporarily. This made everything safer and more efficient for the detailed roof work.
A critical aspect of this project involved the scaffold’s necessary encroachment over a public pavement. To ensure full legal compliance and minimise any inconvenience or hazard to pedestrians, obtaining a pavement licence from Portsmouth City Council was a mandatory condition. Our experienced administrative team took full responsibility for the timely application and successful acquisition of this licence. This proactive management ensured that all local authority regulations regarding public thoroughfare obstructions were met, allowing for seamless erection and use of the scaffold without any legal delays or potential disruption to public access.
This scaffolding structure was erected with precision and efficiency, strictly adhering to all relevant safety guidelines and industry best practices. Its inherently stable design, coupled with generously sized working platforms, provided the client’s contractors with a secure and productive environment, enabling them to execute their essential roof maintenance and repair tasks effectively and safely, completing the project without incident. The entire scaffolding solution, from initial consultation and licence acquisition to erection and eventual dismantling, was delivered seamlessly over the four-week hire period at the pre-agreed total cost. This successful undertaking serves as a testament to our dedication to providing tailored, comprehensive, and cost-effective scaffolding access solutions, even in complex urban settings with public access considerations.
